Inspired

We humans need to take inspiration from whatever sources we can, from every scrap of beauty and trace of love we can find in this world. We need to seek out and cling to truth as we happen upon it in everyday life.

This lovely Saturday evening (even though it wasn't all that lovely and I've been feeling a little sick and blue lately) I went to the movie Invictus with my family.

It is a movie set in South Africa with two focuses, Nelson Mandela and rugby.

While my knowledge on both subjects is limited, I really enjoyed the movie. It inspired me on in my love for Africa. South Africa, as a country, is completely different than the ones I've visited but I was still able to see glimpses in the movie of images that have been secured in my heart from real life experiences. I could've cried right there in the theater when I saw the African children running and playing, when the camera scanned all of the shed-size houses lining the roads. There is a desire deep inside of me to go back; it is a desire I could neither contrive myself or handle on my own.

I am so elated that I have the opportunity this spring. I vow when I get there I will pour my heart and my love and my source of life (Jesus Christ) onto that land and those people.

If you both desire and remember, please pray for my team heading to Gabon next May. Pray that we would lay every hindrance aside, that we would throw off the sin that entangles, and that we would RUN with perseverance and awareness of the great race that God has laid before us. (Pray Hebrews 12:1) Pray that we would remember that the Lord of Life and Love and Light is not only cheering us on, but running right with us, for it is all for His glory. I want it to be - I really do. I am in the beginning stages of knowing what that even means - but tonight, my heart is inspired to proclaim it, to live it, to seek it.
