If a bridge would cross the world,
I’d walk it everyday
To bring harmony between the two places where my heart is planted.
If a path stretched the width of the horizon out my window,
I’d take a friendly stroll
To see what peace I could find in someone else’s land.
For a settled soul the heart is where the home is,
But when my eyes dared to peek beyond the boards that hold me safe,
I found that the distance is really closer
Than the arms that seek to hold me.
The ever-changing emotions that once defined life
Are being abandoned in the night
As my heart sets on the unmovable
And rests with one mood.
The stirring and the thumping are signaling me to escape
While my bones are yet young and my heart is filled with passion
When no tolerance is left for the acquaintances who misunderstand
And my eyes see no worth in a hand holding me back.
Shortly enough my mind won’t be the only thing reaching
My eyes and my arms will catch up with my dreams
They will grasp for the parts of my soul that I’ve sent somewhere else
And I’ll no longer be stranded behind bars that don’t belong to me
Freedom is just a moment away, adventure lies just beyond the bridge…
The bridge that crosses the world.

(Picture taken by one of my favorite photographers... Bertrand Devimeux... Look him up, if you want. His pictures and his words totally stir me... to thinking, and writing, and dreaming. In fact, I wrote a poem that was inpsired by a photo he took in Zanzibar, Tanzania which he titled, "Between the Pages.")
Another thing you could do, is listen to the great song I heard for this first time this weekend. It, for whatever reason, is also quite the soul-stirrer... *Although the acoustic version is ten times better... I could not find that on youtube*

(And yes, I know he hits some high vocals... for a man...)
In other news, I am off again tomorrow...
And not to spiritualize a trip that is clearly for my own sake, I really know the Lord will be traveling with me. I know he gave me Anna for such an enormous, encouraging reason. Today as I was driving, I stopped to remember how amazing it is that I have a friend who I can feel so incredibly comfortable with. I have someone who knows next-to everything about me, sees me in my craziest times, and still loves me a ridiculously large amount. How does that happen?
No seriously... how does it happen?
