The Great Escape

Last night, after work, Lisa and I got dressed up and spent a night on the town.
A few days ago we decided to make it our goal to try one new restaurant each month. We will take turns making the monthly eatery selections. Lisa was up first. She chose to surprise me by taking me to an Ethiopian restaurant! (Since I am goin' there in May)
Our waiter was the owner's brother and I told him I was heading to Ethiopia. He offered me his family's contact information since they are still living there, told us about his new life here, urged us to come back until we've 'tried every plate on the menu (Do I look rich? Or that hungry?) and assured me he would never forget me (*Rolls eyes*). Well, at least it was fun.

After dinner, we went to a fun coffee shop to hit the books before returning back to our sheltered college life.

Other mentionable topics:

*I got a note in my mailbox today confirming that I am selected for the Ethiopian mission trip this summer.
*I am knee deep in the process of writing my first lesson plan (ever). It is a 3rd grade lesson on heredity. Any fun suggestions?
* It snowed (second time this season) today. I woke up and was stunned that there was already white everywhere. I love to be the first person to step in wet snow in a given area. It feels so good as it presses down beneath my shoes. That is about all I love about it though. The whole walking-to-class-with-the-bottom-of-my-jeans-soaked thing is really not something I look forward to. Neither is the wear-a-big-fluffy-jacket-and-still-freeze-your-butt-off thing. But hey... we'll get through it.
*And finally... I am working today. Usually I have Fridays off but this woman just had her 4th baby and could use some help (ages 3, 2, 1, and yep, 10 days). I love that family ... but everyday I leave there thanking the Lord that I'm not tied down yet.
