Currently Reading...

If I was a good blogger I would write a book review on the novel pictured above; I would give you a brief look at the topics of the book and how they unfold within the author's life story. I would explain to you why this writer intrigues me so much and then I'd end my review with a few words of pizazz that would make you want to read the book as well.
Since I'm not a 'good blogger', however, you'll get a simple recommendation from me to read this book. I started reading it with my roommate Lisa and I love it... makes me want to change... to begin to truly bring forth the Kingdom of Heaven.
[WARNING]
I will forewarn you though... his ideas are radical and the reading calls us all to follow what Jesus really said. I think it will challenge every ounce of modern Christianity within you. If you aren't up for that... forget it.

Previews of the book (a.k.a. ... a few of my favorite quotes)
"While the voices of blockbuster movies and pop culture cry out for a life outside the matrix of numb efficiency, Christianity often has offered little to the world, other than the hope that things will be better in heaven."
"The time has come for a new kind of conversation, a new kind of Christianity, a new kind of revolution."
"Even if there were no heaven and there were no hell, would you still follow Jesus? Would you follow him for the life, joy and fulfillment he gives you right now?" -Tony Campolo
"WE ARE NOT CALLED TO BE SUCCESSFUL BUT TO BE FAITHFUL." - Mother Teresa

  1. I have to take issue with the Campolo quote. Beyond my opinions of Capolo himself, I have to disagree with his assessment. Isn't our entire faith predicated on the belief in the eternal, in heaven and hell? If we didn't look at Christianity in the light of eternity, wouldn't Jesus just be another nice guy that got killed for what he believed in? What, then, would separate our beliefs from Buddhism or Islam or any other religion? Our faith is meaningless without eternity.
